How to Use a Fairy Tale Display in the Classroom

Now, back in the day, I used to spend many hours (maybe days) drawing, painting and creating my own Fairy Tale display for my classroom. If only I had a Teach Starter account! This Fairy Tale setting is super easy to assemble – just follow the letter and number guides that are shown on each of the pages and glue it together. I would suggest using Blu Tack to stick it together so that, when you are finished with it, you can easily take it down and store it in a folder for next time!
The Fairy Tale setting can be displayed and used for a variety of activities such as:
- Inspiration for students when they plan out their own story.
- The backdrop for a Fairy Tale word wall.
- A puppet show backdrop!
- A writing prompt to help children use describing words in their writing.
- A permanent display in the school library.
Exploring Story Characters
Included in this amazing resource are 22 super adorable character images and story titles! Whilst many represent Fairy Tales, there are also some sneaky characters that have decided to join Fairy Tale land! This can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom:
- Have students match up the characters with the book titles on the setting.
- Keep a record of books you have read by adding the titles as you read them in class.
- Use the character images as writing prompts for their very own stories.

Hot teacher tip: I used to divide my narrative word wall into the following headings: Story Starters, Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution and Sentence Starters. This clearly provided the students with the ideas and vocab they needed to plan and write a narrative.
